Insulation Board Joint Reinforcement
Warmup recommends reinforcing the joints between its insulation boards with glass fibre tape once the boards have been correctly fixed to the subfloor. This helps provide a more stable and continuous board surface before the next stage of the installation.
When installing over a concrete floor, Warmup specifies fixing the boards with a suitable flexible tile adhesive and staggering the joints. Once the adhesive has hardened, the joints should be reinforced using Warmup glass fibre tape.
For timber subfloors, the boards are secured using suitable screws and washers after bonding, with the joints subsequently reinforced using the glass fibre tape.
Suitable for Warmup Insulation Boards
Warmup Insulation Boards are manufactured from water-resistant extruded polystyrene with a fibreglass mesh embedded into a cement polymer coating on each face. The boards are available in thicknesses from 6mm to 50mm and are designed to provide a stable, insulated base for underfloor heating and tile installations.
The fibreglass tape complements this board system by providing reinforcement across the joints between individual boards.

Installation
Warmup Insulation Boards should first be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. Boards should be laid with staggered joints and securely fixed to the appropriate subfloor.
Once the boards have been fixed, the joints should be reinforced with Warmup glass fibre tape before proceeding with the next stage of the floor construction. For waterproof applications, Warmup additionally specifies sealing the joints with a suitable silicone sealant.
